The
Russian Futurist Movement
|
| The futurist movement, which began in Italy in the mid 1910's, was characterized by a strong interest in machination, sensation and chaos. In several countries, this movement had a strong basis in the arts and literature, and the overlapping of different senses, called synesthaesia. In Russia, there was a strong shift in the musical scene, due in a large part to the 1905 and 1917 revolutions. This led to reorganizing thoughts on their traditional tone and scale foundations, also referred to as a "blow to public taste." Due to the explorations of the futurists, we can draw connections between the aesthetics and reasoning behind the music and visuals of the movement. |
